The RuneScape games will be Steamforged's 12th edition of a video-based game for tabletop. Past adaptations have included The Monster Hunter OSRS Gold: World board game, which grossed PS3.4 million through Kickstarter in 2021.
The trade of virtual currencies for real-world money can be a challenge for many online games, causing disruption to in-game economies, disrupting player experiences and changing games into pay-to win scenarios. In RuneScape, the trade in the digital gold currency has been a particular problem with bots extracting the resources, and accusations that the option to buy in-game "bonds" for real money amounts gambling.
Today, Jagex has outlined strategies to deal with the issue. In a new blog entry, credited to "The RuneScape Team", the publisher states that "gold bought through RWT is a problem in all online games that use a tradeable currency", and that although its "Anti-Cheating Team has been doing a lot to tackle RWT sellers in and out of the game" the company will be taking more drastic measures with immediate beginning.
The company cites the "growing team and improved technology", Jagex says it is no longer only in the business of acquiring gold and resources with RWT but as buyers. Its goal is to cut down the demand, as well as to limit the supply.
Jagex says it will have to send "messages to those who we've identified as being involved with the RWT" within "the coming hours". "For those who have been involved, we'd like to be clear - this is your sole and only warning," it added.
Other measures the developer might take as punishments for RWT actions are scheduled to include wealth removal which Cheap RS Gold is basically the removal of illegal gains from accounts at a server level - and potential bans.
